"How Can I Help?" is the thirteenth episode of Season 5 of New Amsterdam. It is the Series Finale of New Amsterdam. It aired on January 17, 2023.

Synopsis

In the series finale, everyone's story reaches a surprising yet inevitable conclusion.

Plot

This is the Series Finale of New Amsterdam. The episode begins with Max explaining why he became a doctor. He says he became a doctor because of the the death of his twin sister. Later, he meets a doctor who asked him his famous question "How Can I Help?". He informs the hospital that he will leave the hospital to pursue a new career with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva. Flashbacks are shown that details the reasons why Bloom,Reynolds,Frome,and Wilder became doctors. Throughout the episode we get clips of a new Medical Director arriving at the hospital. She walks around the hospital looking for the staff, after failing to find anyone she declares a staff meeting. During the end of the episode it is revealed that the new Medical Director is Max's daughter Luna Goodwin. She asks the same question her dad asked at the beginning of the series. She asks “How Can I Help?”
