Plot[]

Helen is practicing her motor skills at home. After her stroke in the previous episode, her speech is progressing slowly. But she can now make breakfast again. She is struggling with the wait and not seeing improvements instantly, wanting to get better rather than later.

She wants her family to be the way they were, and she is thinking about returning to London. For her, London is home.

They came to New York because of tragedy. They remained in New York due to the hospital's difficulties, and they continue to remain in the city for Sharpe's speech therapy at New Amsterdam. She is making progress, and it's better for everyone that they don't upset her.

Max is also working as a subcontractor at the hospital to help with the medical bills. He also has a voice on the board, and wants to use that to face off against Veronica. Veronica is a major problem. They learn she has even been targeting people with predatory medical bills. When Max finds out, he is determined to use this information to defeat her. He says as much to Floyd. So Floyd offers to help. It turns out Veronica has been overcharging people and then threatening them with civil court if they didn’t pay the ridiculous charges. Max and Floyd decide they'll go to the board with this but Max is warned that the board has a fondness for money, regardless of its source.

Max responds that they also wouldn’t want to lose their stellar reputations if this got out. He thinks a few leaks to the media or the threat of leaking it to the media will be enough for the board to oust Veronica. He comes up with fliers, giving them out to anyone and everyone in front of the hospital.

He tells people before they go in that a band-aid will cost somewhere in the hundreds. The media gets wind of the story and begin interviewing individuals who've been overcharged. After interviewing eleven of these individuals, the board decides not to let anyone damage the hospital's reputation.

Iggy, meanwhile, is dealing with the fallout of two infidelities. One is his own. His husband has accused him of engaging in an emotional affair and leaving himself vulnerable to exploitation. And hasn't talked to Iggy since. Iggy is getting desperate, wanting to go to marriage counseling. But they unfortunately know all the excellent doctors in the city, so Iggy suggests leaving to get help. A forty-minute drive would be worth it to save their marriage. His husband says yes, but Iggy cam tell he isn't thinking about it all that much, while Iggy is obsessing over it.

While feeling a little sad about his chances of doing so, Iggy is determined to make his marriage work. Back at work, there is an incident in the psych ward. One of the female students kisses the boy she is dating in group. Unsure how she feels about the kiss because she processes emotions differently, she proceeds to kiss every other boy in the group, leading her boyfriend to dump her. The girl then flips, trying to beat her ex up, with Iggy had intervening. He tells her what she did was wrong and that she hurt the poor teenager when she cheated on him.

Iggy agrees to serve as a councilor for the two exes. He manages to get them both to apologise and show appreciation for each other, but later, the girl ends her relationship with him. She only wanted him back because she wanted to be the one to break up with him. Iggy speaks to Juliet again learning she actually dumped Isaac because things weren’t the same when they got back together; he was pushing her away. She felt that he was going to dump her again, so she wanted to be the one to win. She broke up with him before he could break up with her. That's something Iggy understands.

Iggy, filled with fear he is about to face rejection, tries to hide his emotions as best as he can, and later goes to couple counseling alone. He doesn't bring his husband along, believing he needs to focus on his personal growth first.

But Max’s bid to oust Veronica hasn't worked. She manages to turn things around, even offering to buy out the contractors Max was working with, unaware that this was all part of Max's plan.

The subcontractor’s division was was his Trojan horse.

Lauren learns from a new patient that what she loves the most could be killing her. So, she takes time off and enjoys a session with the Alternative Medicine Department.
